A wealth of experience, an international reputation for quality.

Brief History To 2007

Torver Engineering Ltd was formed in 1982 by Des Vines and Ian Duckworth. In the formative years, the company specialised in the supply of wet and dry filtration systems to the mineral extraction industry. In the intervening 25 years, the company has developed to keep pace with technological changes and improved environmental legislation by increasing the range and sophistication of the equipment and services we are able to offer to a much wider range of industrial processes.

In 2007 the supply of bag filters, fluid bed dryers/elutriators and associated processing and environmental control equipment continues to be the mainstay of our business. However, more and more emphasis is being placed on hot gas filtration and the removal gaseous pollutants such as Solvent, NOx and SOx. In principle, the equipment needed to handle and treat these gasses is similar to that used in conventional filtration systems, but there is the added requirement to prove the chemistry and often a carry out a practical small scale tests to develop a solution. For this element we have formed a close working relationship with Professor Jan Baeyens and the department of Chemical Engineering at Birmingham University. As a result we are able to offer existing and potential customers an unrivalled range of equipment and service to enable them to meet the environmental standards demanded in the 21st century.

In 2005 the assets and intellectual property rights of Torver Engineering Ltd. were purchased by Walkersteel Ltd. As a result, the name was changed to Torver Environmental, operating as a trading division of WalkersteelLltd. Ian Duckworth remains with the new company as General Manager.

Walkersteel Ltd is a strong engineering and steel stockholding business and the directors viewed the acquisition of Torver as a natural step forward in their business development plan. Access to in-house services and manufacturing facilities, previously outsourced, is also proving to be significantly beneficial to Torver. Furthermore, Walkersteel plan to develop the current range of standard products, expand and build up a stock of instrumentation and spare parts specific to the needs of the end user.
